With Uncanny Automator, connecting your WordPress site to your Instagram Business account is as easy as a few clicks. Automatically push new posts from your WordPress site to your Instagram Business account, including blog posts or even custom post types like events, products, courses and more.
Setting up an Instagram Business account and connecting it to a Facebook page
Before you can use Uncanny Automator to post to your Instagram Business account, you’ll need to create an Instagram Business account and connect it to a Facebook page for your business. Unfortunately, Facebook does not provide a method for posting to a non-business Instagram account, so only Instagram Business accounts are supported.
- Convert your Instagram account to an Instagram Business account. This is the first step if you have a standard (non-Business) Instagram account.
- Connect your Instagram Business account to a Facebook page. This step is required to enable Uncanny Automator to post to your Instagram Business account.
If you run into any issues with this process, please reach out to Facebook/Instagram support. Unfortunately, we cannot provide support for setting up an Instagram Business account or connecting it to a Facebook page.
Connecting your Instagram Business account to Uncanny Automator
After you have your Instagram Business account connected to your Facebook page, if you have the free version of Uncanny Automator, you’ll first need to connect your site with a free Uncanny Automator account, which will give you 250 free app credits to use with Instagram. If you have Uncanny Automator Pro, simply activate your Pro license key to get unlimited usage of the Instagram integration.
Next, you’ll need to follow the steps to connect your WordPress site to your Facebook account. Instagram is very closely integrated with Facebook, and the process of setting up permissions for your Instagram account first requires connecting Uncanny Automator to your Facebook account (the Facebook account that is linked to your Instagram Business account).
Once you’ve completed those steps, return to the recipe page and click on the Instagram icon. You’ll see a dialog that prompts you to connect Uncanny Automator to your Instagram account:
Clicking Connect account will open the Instagram settings tab (or you can access it directly by going to Uncanny Automator > Settings > Instagram):
This step is super quick and easy. Click the refresh icon next to No Instagram accounts connected. This should find any Instagram Business accounts that are linked to the Facebook pages you’ve authorized for Uncanny Automator:
That’s it! You can now automatically add posts to your Instagram Business account when new posts are published to your WordPress site, or even when new pages, courses, products, etc. are created.
Important: Facebook profiles with a “Personalized” role for for the Instagram account may not be able to post; make sure the Facebook profile has an “Administrator” role for the page.
Note on posting limits: The Instagram API limits posting to 25 posts per day, with a maximum of 20 hashtags per post.
