With ActiveCampaign and Uncanny Automator—both best-in-class ecommerce automation tools—you can build customer workflows and journeys that increase conversions and customer engagement. The best part? It’s entirely free for you to try!

Keep reading to find out how you can get set up with ActiveCampaign and Automator today for the grand total of $0.

What is ActiveCampaign?

Did you know that Return on Investment (ROI) for email marketing campaigns averages 3,800%? According to the Data & Marketing Association, the average email marketer can expect to see $38 for every $1 invested. It’s one of the best ways to see a return on your site investment, and even nominal effort and expense can yield significant results. Of course, ActiveCampaign is free for you to try out, so your initial return will be infinitely higher than that 3,800%!

ActiveCampaign is an automated email marketing and customer relationship management (CRM) platform that enables its users to collect and organize contact data, initiate marketing campaigns and send transactional emails—and so much more!

If you’ve ever used automated email marketing software such as Mailchimp, Sendinblue or Moosend, then you’ll be familiar with the three core features that make a strong email marketing platform: segmentation, personalization and automation.

ActiveCampaign takes familiar features such as a drag-and-drop email builder, A/B testing and contact and lead scoring and gives them unparalleled functionality to offer you more granular contact segmentation, greater personalization and far more powerful automation.

With ActiveCampaign, the possibilities for meaningful engagement with your customer and contact base are truly endless. Here’s just one example of how you can personalize your customer workflow:

Example: An Author’s Drip Campaign

ActiveCampaign Automation Tree

Scenario

Let’s say that an author wanted to gather reviews on a new book in their WooCommerce store to build up hype around its release. At the same time, the author would like to start measuring their readers’ engagement with their content. With ActiveCampaign, the author can design an automation to run a drip campaign (an email marketing campaign that follows a schedule) that serves both of their aims.

Automation

Step 1: Automatically add a tag to a contact after they purchase the new book.

Step 2: Send an automated post-purchase email with a request for a review. This can be time-delayed to allow for shipping and/or product testing.

Step 3: Segment contacts by those who left a review and those who did not, automatically adding points to or subtracting points from their profiles based on their actions.

Step 4: Add a tag to customers who left a review and send them another automated email with a coupon for their next purchase.

Step 5: Watch your WooCommerce store grow and prosper!

Powerful as this automation is, it’s just the tip of the iceberg that is ActiveCampaign’s capabilities. You can put an expiry date on an automation if you’re running a promotion, segment the availability of the promotion to only customers in a given geographic area and design every detail of your emails to suit your branding!

With all of these great features, there is a bit of a learning curve—especially if you’re new to email marketing automation—but ActiveCampaign has an intuitive interface and offers tons of user support.

When you sign-up with ActiveCampaign, you’ll receive the undivided attention of a representative to help you get started. And once you upgrade to a paid plan, ActiveCampaign’s ongoing support for all of its users gives you the tools and knowledge you need to make the most of their powerful platform. So even if you’ve never launched an email marketing campaign, you’ll be a pro before long.

It’s easy to see why 150,000 businesses use ActiveCampaign to take their businesses to the next level. By signing up for a free 14-day trial, you can see how easy it is to automate your business and improve your margins.

Step 3: Start Making Recipes Like a WordPress Wizard!

Now that you’re all set up with ActiveCampaign and Automator, it’s time to start connecting with your customers and boosting your WooCommerce sales. To give you an idea of how easy it is to get started, let’s do a simple walkthrough.

Step 1: From your WordPress Admin Sidebar, create a new recipe under Automator > Add New. You’ll be prompted to select your recipe type. Select the box on the left labeled “Logged-in users” and click Confirm.

Automator Recipe Type Selector

Step 2: At the top of the page, give your recipe a title that makes it easy for you to remember. It’s best to come up with a naming convention for your recipes. For example, you could list the integrations involved in the recipe and then describe the action. Following that convention, this recipe would be titled WooCommerce-ActiveCampaign: New Book Contact Tagging. If the title is available, a green check mark will appear in the right-hand side of the title box.

Step 3:

Below the title box, you’ll find the triggers box. From the list of your available integrations, select WooCommerce.

Then, from the drop-down list of triggers that appears, select A user completes, pays for, lands on a thank you page for an order with a product.

Step 4: Select your specific trigger condition—for our example, we selected completes an order—and the product for which you would like to create a contact tag.

WooCommerce Trigger Live

On the right-hand side of the trigger box, make sure that the trigger is set to Live. This should happen automatically but it’s always good to verify!

Step 5: Scroll down to the actions box and select ActiveCampaign from the list of available integrations.

From the drop-down list that appears, select Add a tag to the user and then choose the tag you’re looking for. Once again, verify that the action is set to Live.

Step 6: In the recipe box in the upper-right hand of the screen, set the recipe from Draft to Live.

Finally, kick back and let your tag-triggered ActiveCampaign automations run your CRM!

Note: Contacts need to be added to ActiveCampaign before Automator recipes with the ActiveCampaign integration can run. If you’re not sure whether contacts will already be in ActiveCampaign when the recipe runs, always use the action “Add a contact to ActiveCampaign” before adding tags or adding them to lists.
