Supercharge your email marketing workflows by connecting Kit to Uncanny Automator. With this integration, you can automate subscriber management, tagging, broadcasting, and more — all triggered by events happening across your WordPress site.
With Uncanny Automator and Kit, you’ll be able to:
– Add subscribers to forms and sequences automatically
– Tag and untag subscribers based on WordPress activity
– Create and update subscribers with custom field data
– Send broadcasts triggered by events on your site
– Create purchases in Kit from WooCommerce or other eCommerce activity
– Unsubscribe users automatically based on specific conditions
Setting up your Kit connection
Important: Kit must be connected through the Uncanny Automator settings page in your WordPress admin. You cannot install this integration directly from the Kit App Store. If you arrived at this page after attempting to install from Kit’s App Store, please follow the steps below to connect properly.
Step 1: Install and activate Uncanny Automator
If you haven’t already, install and activate the Uncanny Automator plugin on your WordPress site. You can find it by navigating to Plugins > Add New and searching for “Uncanny Automator”, or download it from WordPress.org.
Step 2: Connect your Kit account
From your WordPress dashboard:
1. Click Automator in the left-hand menu
2. Click App integrations
3. Select Kit from the integrations list
4. Click the Connect Kit account button
You will be redirected to Kit where you’ll be asked to authorize Uncanny Automator to access your account.
Step 3: Authorize the connection
On the Kit authorization screen, review the permissions and click Install to grant Uncanny Automator access.
Once installed, Kit will display an “Uncanny Automator is now installed!” confirmation. Click the Continue to Uncanny Automator button to finalize the connection and return to your WordPress site. If you click “Stay on Kit” instead, the connection will not be completed and you will need to repeat this step.
Step 4: Confirm the connection
After being redirected back to WordPress, you should see your Kit account name and email displayed on the settings page, confirming that the connection was successful.
Using Kit in your recipes
Once connected, Kit actions will be available in the Uncanny Automator recipe editor. You can combine Kit actions with any of Automator’s 200+ integrations to build powerful automations.
To add a Kit action to a recipe:
1. Create a new recipe or edit an existing one
2. Add an action and select Kit from the integration list
3. Choose from the available Kit actions
4. Configure the action fields (subscriber email, tags, form, etc.)
5. Save and activate your recipe

Troubleshooting
I connected from the Kit App Store and it didn’t work
Kit must be connected from within your WordPress admin. Navigate to Automator > Settings > App integrations > Kit and use the Connect button there to initiate the connection. Connecting directly from the Kit App Store will not work because the integration requires your WordPress site URL to complete the setup.
My connection expired or stopped working
OAuth connections refresh automatically. If your connection stops working, try disconnecting and reconnecting from the Kit settings page in Automator. Go to Automator > Settings > App integrations > Kit, click Disconnect, and then reconnect using the steps above.
I previously connected with API keys — do I need to reconnect?
Existing API key connections will continue to work. However, some newer actions (such as creating broadcasts, purchases, custom fields, and unsubscribing) require an OAuth connection. We recommend upgrading to OAuth to access the full set of available actions.
