Troubleshooting Uncanny Agent

If Uncanny Agent, the AI assistant built into Uncanny Automator, isn’t behaving the way you expect, find the matching problem below and work through it before opening a support ticket. Most issues fall into one of a handful of groups.

I can’t see Uncanny Agent in my WordPress admin

• Make sure you’re logged in as an administrator. Uncanny Agent is available to Administrator users only.
• Make sure the site has Uncanny Agent usage. Uncanny Agent is free to start, and paid plans include Uncanny Agent usage; check your balance on your usage page. On Uncanny Automator Lite, the site must first be connected to a free Uncanny Automator account.
• Check the launchers at Automator > Settings > Uncanny Agent. Uncanny Agent Launcher Tab shows the tab at the bottom of the screen, and Uncanny Agent Top Bar Button shows the button in the admin bar. Switch the one you want to Enabled and click Save settings. If there is no Uncanny Agent tab under Automator > Settings, Uncanny Agent isn’t available on the site under its current license or account.
• Confirm Uncanny Automator is up to date. Uncanny Agent ships with recent versions of Automator; older versions don’t include it.
• Some browser extensions, especially aggressive ad blockers, can hide the Uncanny Agent launcher. Try disabling extensions, or test in a private (incognito) window.

If none of these explains it, include your system report when you contact support: go to Automator > Dashboard, click View full status, and click Get system report. Its Feature state section shows whether the Uncanny Agent launchers and settings tab are visible on the site, which tells us where to look.

The Uncanny Agent panel opens but is blank or stuck loading

• Hard-refresh the page (Cmd+Shift+R on macOS, Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows).
• Check your browser’s console for blocked requests. Corporate firewalls and strict content security policies on the WordPress admin can block Uncanny Agent.
• Try a different browser. If the problem only happens in one browser, an extension or setting in that browser is the likely cause.

Uncanny Agent says I’m out of usage

Check your Uncanny Agent usage page. To keep going, upgrade your plan or buy more usage. Monthly usage vs. Anytime usage, explained covers how the two kinds of usage work and which is used first.

Uncanny Agent took an action I didn’t want

Do two things:

1. Undo what you can. Most things Uncanny Agent does, such as creating a recipe or publishing a post, can be reverted from the standard WordPress admin. Uncanny Agent won’t revert work for you unless you ask it to.
2. Tell Uncanny Agent what went wrong. A message such as “You shouldn’t have published that post. Please move it back to draft and don’t publish again unless I ask you to.” fixes the immediate problem and shapes the rest of the conversation.

For longer-term feedback, click the thumbs-down button under the response and add a note about what went wrong.

A recipe Uncanny Agent built isn’t running

Uncanny Agent builds the recipe, but the recipe then runs like any other recipe. If it isn’t doing what you hoped, the cause is usually the recipe’s setup rather than Uncanny Agent. Open the recipe in the recipe builder and check:

• The recipe is switched on. The switch in the top bar must read Recipe on. If the builder won’t switch it on, it opens a “This recipe can’t go live yet” dialog that lists what to fix. Fix each item, or click Fix with Uncanny Agent to ask Uncanny Agent to fix them.
• Each trigger and action is on. Every trigger and action has its own On / Off switch on its node, and an item that is Off does nothing.
• Untested items. An action that has a Test step may have been saved without running it. Open it and run the test to confirm it works.
• The logs. Click View logs in the Details panel of the builder sidebar, or go to Automator > Logs, and look for errors on the Recipe and Action tabs. The AI activity tab lists only AI apps connected through mcp.automatorplugin.com, so Uncanny Agent’s work doesn’t appear there.
• Ask Uncanny Agent to investigate. Choose Ask Uncanny Agent from the ⋮ More actions menu in the builder to start a conversation about this recipe.

Uncanny Agent is hallucinating or repeating itself

Long conversations occasionally drift, especially when they cover several unrelated topics. The fix is almost always to start a new conversation: click the menu icon in the top-left of the Uncanny Agent panel and choose + New conversation.

I want to delete my conversation history

Delete conversations one at a time from the conversation history sidebar: hover over a conversation, click the three dots (•••), and click Delete. See Managing your Uncanny Agent conversations. For a full account-level data request, see our Privacy Policy.
